Solution

This project faced challenges in creating a compliant fire strategy due to structural complexity and a change of use. Adding specialist facilities like healthcare simulations, labs, and IT classrooms required a full review of escape routes, compartmentation, and fire safety systems, causing design changes and delays. The issue was resolved through close collaboration with Building Control and fire safety consultants via regular reviews and inspections, ensuring compliance and user safety for successful delivery.

Outcome

The Shenstone House project was delivered on time and to a high standard, achieving full compliance with fire safety regulations through meticulous compartmentation design.

The facility now offers purpose-built spaces that blend academic learning with practical experience: healthcare simulation areas on the ground floor, advanced science and anatomy resources on the second floor, and flexible teaching and IT classrooms on the upper levels.
