Phase 1 Completed at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Emergency Department
We are proud to mark a significant milestone at Birmingham Children’s Hospital with the successful handover of Phase 1 of the Emergency Department waiting area refurbishment.
Delivered in collaboration with valued partners Pinnegar Hayward Design and exi, and supported by our in-house BSN Electrical Ltd and Engineering divisions, this first phase has transformed the waiting environment into a more welcoming and calming space for patients, families and staff.
The newly completed area has already made a positive impact, offering a carefully designed setting that prioritises comfort and wellbeing. A key feature of the space is the striking central tree installation, enhanced with LED lighting, which creates a warm and reassuring focal point within the department.
Phase 2 Now Underway
With Phase 1 complete, works have now progressed onto Phase 2 of the project. This next stage will deliver significant enhancements to the Emergency Department, including:
- Three new resuscitation areas
- A dedicated mental health facility
- Baby changing facilities
Additional improvements to support patient care and operational efficiency.
These developments will further strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide high-quality, responsive care in a modern and supportive environment.
Progress on New Main Entrance
Alongside the Emergency Department works, progress continues at pace on the hospital’s new main entrance extension. Glulam frames are currently being installed, a key structural element that is beginning to define the internal space and architectural character of the new entrance.
It’s exciting to see this important feature take shape as the wider transformation of the site progresses.
We are delighted to be working alongside Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Charity on this vital project and look forward to sharing further updates as the development continues. 🏗️💛
