BSN Group Welcomes Chellaston Academy Students for an Insightful Tour at Form Group Factory

Last week, BSN Group and our partners at Form Group had the privilege of hosting a group of talented Year 10 students from Chellaston Academy for a factory tour that combined education, creativity, and hands-on experience. The students, who were impeccably well-behaved and enthusiastic, were eager to learn about the construction and manufacturing industries and the various career paths these sectors offer.

The visit began with an exclusive tour of Form Group’s production floor, where the students saw first-hand the craftsmanship and precision that go into creating high-quality furniture. The factory tour was a great opportunity for the students to witness the attention to detail, technology, and teamwork that are essential to the manufacturing process. From design to assembly, the students gained valuable insight into the production cycle, giving them a better understanding of how everyday products are brought to life.

Form Group, who recently supplied stunning new classroom furniture as part of Chellaston Academy’s refurbishment project, went the extra mile to ensure the day was both educational and engaging. The highlight of the day came when the students were invited to take part in a design challenge. Working in teams, they were tasked with creating their own design brief for a piece of furniture, complete with a detailed budget. This challenge not only introduced the students to the creative side of manufacturing but also required them to think critically about costs, materials, and functionality.

Guided by the experienced staff at Form Group, the students showed remarkable creativity and attention to detail in their designs. Each team put a great deal of thought into their work, producing designs that were both innovative and practical. We are thrilled to announce that the winning design from the challenge will be brought to life by Form Group and proudly displayed in the Design and Technology department at Chellaston Academy.
