Empowering Young Adults: BSN’s Social Value Event with All Saints Community Project Inclusion Plus Group
At BSN, we’re dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities we work with, and social value is at the heart of everything we do. Last week, we had the privilege of partnering with All Saints Community Project’s Inclusion Plus Group in Kings Heath, a program committed to helping young adults facing challenges that may prevent them from securing long-term employment.
The Inclusion Plus Group is an inspiring organisation that supports young people, many of whom have neurodiversity or other barriers that can make traditional career paths difficult. This group not only builds practical skills for the workforce but also fosters self-confidence and a strong sense of self-worth, both essential for success in any professional field.
Why Social Value Matters
In recent months, our Social Value Manager, Sam Shaw, has been working closely with Inclusion Plus Group as part of BSN’s broader social value initiatives. Through various workshops and sessions, we focused on preparing the young adults for the interview process—an area that often feels intimidating. These sessions helped them build self-esteem, practice talking about their skills, and improve their confidence, so they can approach future interviews with a positive mindset.
Last week, these young adults took on the challenge of mock interviews, conducted by local businesses that generously volunteered their time. This event provided invaluable experience in a realistic setting, equipping participants to better understand how to present themselves and communicate their abilities confidently.
Sam Shaw, Social Value Manager at BSN, remarked:
“Watching these young adults come into their own during the interviews was incredibly rewarding. They brought a level of enthusiasm and resilience that was inspiring to see. Events like this not only break down employment barriers for young people but also offer businesses an opportunity to see the unique perspectives neurodiverse individuals bring to the workforce.”
Why Neurodiversity and Inclusion Matter in the Workplace
Neurodiverse individuals contribute distinct perspectives, problem-solving approaches, and resilience that enhance teams and drive innovation. Inclusivity in the workplace is not only a moral responsibility—it brings measurable benefits, fostering creative thinking and a culture that values diverse voices.
Looking Ahead
BSN is committed to building partnerships with community projects like All Saints’ Inclusion Plus Group. These collaborations allow us to create long-lasting, positive change, supporting individuals in their personal and professional journeys. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, we hope to continue empowering young people, giving them the tools and confidence to succeed.
A special thank you goes out to our wonderful volunteer businesses, who dedicated their time and compassion to make this event possible, and to the young adults who took on the challenge with such eagerness. This event is just one example of the many ways we aim to support the communities around us, and we are excited for what the future holds!
