BSN Group Construction Takes on the Kilimanjaro Challenge for Birmingham Children’s Hospital

At BSN Group Construction, our commitment to supporting the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is as strong as ever. Over the years, we have continuously stepped up for this remarkable cause—abseiling down buildings, sponsoring the Dragon Boat Race for four consecutive years, and proudly standing as Changemaker partners. Now, we are taking our dedication to new heights, quite literally, with our latest charitable endeavour: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Four of our team members—Darren Perry, Jennifer Reynolds, Neil Chapman, and Marcus Dominick—are embarking on this bold challenge, representing BSN Group in the Kilimanjaro climb as part of the #ItStartsHere appeal. This challenge holds personal significance for each participant, as we continue to strengthen our long-standing partnership with Birmingham Children’s Hospital, aiming to make a lasting difference for the children and families who rely on its services.

Why Kilimanjaro? Our participation in the Kilimanjaro challenge is in support of the hospital's ambitious #ItStartsHere appeal, which seeks to raise £3 million. The funds will go toward transforming the hospital’s entrance, creating a positive, welcoming space that makes the journey to care easier for children and families. This transformation will help set a new standard for healthcare environments, where design plays a role in creating comfort, calm, and reassurance during difficult times.

The new entrance will not only improve the hospital’s functionality but also provide a more supportive environment for patients and their families. It is a cause close to our hearts, and we are honoured to be part of this initiative.

Our Commitment: Climbing Kilimanjaro is no small feat. Our team has already begun rigorous training, pushing themselves mentally and physically in preparation for the challenge. From early morning hikes to gym sessions, each team member is dedicating time and energy to ensure they are ready for the trek. The journey up Africa's highest peak will be tough, but our commitment to this cause will carry us through the demanding climb.

BSN Group’s involvement in this challenge reflects our company-wide culture of giving back and supporting the communities in which we work. This is more than just another fundraising initiative; it is a testament to the resilience, determination, and teamwork that define BSN Group. Our support for Birmingham Children's Hospital has always been about more than writing cheques—it is about being hands-on, rising to the challenge, and making a meaningful contribution.

As we prepare for the Kilimanjaro climb, we look forward to continuing our support of the hospital's transformational projects. The fundraising goal of £3 million is ambitious, but we believe that with collective effort, every step we take toward the summit of Kilimanjaro brings the hospital one step closer to achieving their vision.

We are incredibly proud of our team for taking on this challenge and for their dedication to training. Supporting the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a mission we hold close, and we are excited to be a part of this extraordinary journey to make a lasting impact.

Stay tuned for updates on our progress and join us in supporting this vital cause!
