BSN Group Advances Emergency Department Transformation at Birmingham Children’s Hospital
BSN Group is pleased to share further progress on its ongoing works at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, as the team continues to enhance key areas of the facility to support patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Alongside the redevelopment of the hospital’s front entrance, BSN is also delivering the restoration of the busy Emergency Department in collaboration with Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital and Charity.
The planned improvements will introduce a range of modern, thoughtfully designed spaces, including:
- Reconstruction of key clinical areas, featuring new triage rooms, resuscitation bays, consultation rooms, and offices
- A welcoming staff reception area with bespoke joinery
- Integration of new mechanical and electrical (M&E) services, carefully coordinated with live hospital systems
- Custom-designed seating and furniture, including a striking tree-inspired feature
- A calming sensory zone with tailored lighting to support patient wellbeing
- Dedicated quiet booths offering privacy and comfort
- A children’s play area, designed to create a more positive and engaging environment
- Thoughtfully curated artwork and structural features to enhance the overall experience
- An advanced acoustic ceiling system, improving sound management within the space
Architectural designs for the new Emergency Department, created by Pinnegar Hayward Design, offer an inspiring glimpse into the future of the space, showcasing a thoughtful balance of functionality, comfort, and innovation.
